Hello! My name is Gloria Vargas and I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I have a bachelor’s degree in Pre-school Education. When I arrived in the United States, I had the opportunity to work for more than 17 years with special needs children. During those 17 years, I enjoyed sharing many wonderful experiences with them. I had the opportunity to teach children from infants to six years old. I was able to retire in 2016.
In 1986, when I left my country, my heart was broken because I had to leave my dog with a friend who promised me that my dog would be happy with him. Sadly, a year later when I visited my dog, he was in a horrible state. I fought with my friend and questioned him about the money that I had been sending him for my dog’s care and where it had gone. Our friendship ended because of the horrible conditions my dog was in.
When I came back to Miami, I continued working to take my mind off of what I encountered. Many years later, my daughter decided to adopt a dog. We went together to the shelter and SURPRISE! She chose the ugliest dog there was. I have to confess that I didn’t like the ugly dog she chose, but we finally made the decision to adopt her. Six months later, the dog grew on me, and I found myself inseparable. I love being Sweet Pea’s “gulita” (dog for abuelita)!
